What is Holistic Living?

Everything and Everyone is connected (spiritually and scientifically)! In fact, according to the National Human Genome Research Institute, all humans share 99.9% identical DNA with one another. We also share roughly 50% identical DNA with plants/trees and bananas! Therefore, how you embrace yourself and how you connect with others around you on a daily basis truly matters. The food you choose to consume and your overall relationship with this planet matters. Everything and Everyone is connected!
    
So what does it mean to live a holistic lifestyle? Living consciously plays a major role in holistic living. To be considerate of the daily choices you make and being self aware is important to this journey. To truly live consciously, one must be aware of their spiritual, physical, nutritional, emotional, financial, social, and environmental habits. You should be able to clearly see yourself and who you are as a whole person. Heart to heart, tell me what do you see? How do you feel about yourself? How do you treat your loved ones or how do you allow others to treat you? What kinds of foods do you consume daily? 
    
Everything is Energy. Food is energetic. The foods we consume have the power to uplift, to bring us to a higher consciousness within ourselves. Food also has the power to bring us down energetically. Reflect on the times you ate a meal and had the experience of feeling lethargic right after. Now imagine those times you had consumed a meal and you felt good and energized. What you feel after eating is an indication of the way the food you consume impacts your body. Consciously, the foods we consume should complement what our body needs at any given moment. Of course your food should taste good, but food should also have nutritional value. Having a balanced relationship with food matters to your health and wellness. It is never too late to start eating consciously. 
      
At Love Galaxy Garden, we embrace a fun vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. Do we suggest everyone to be vegan/vegetarian? Not necessarily. But we do recommend prioritizing eating a variety of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis (unless your medical doctor specifically mentioned otherwise). According to Harvard School of Public Health, many studies suggest a diet which includes daily consumption of fruits and vegetables is super beneficial to our bodies. Some of these benefits include lowering blood pressure, preventing certain types of cancers, weight loss, and reducing the risk of heart disease. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that in the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men. This means consuming fruits and vegetables regularly can actually help save our lives. 
    
Yoga and Meditation also plays a major role in holistic living. Yoga is for ALL body types to enjoy! Yoga helps alleviate pain in the body (such as arthritis), improves flexibility, and contributes to a healthier heart by lowering stress and body inflammation. Yoga provides an energetic boost to your physical and mental body while also aligning your spiritual body.
